Description
Darcey is a 2-year-old pedigree Doberman (without papers). I brought her home just over a year ago with the intention of training her in agility and protection work. However, it quickly became clear that this sweet, affectionate girl has no interest in being a protection dog. Instead, she has shown herself to be a gentle, loving family companion—as you will see from the videos.
Unfortunately, due to an accident, Darcey became pregnant and later suffered a miscarriage. She lost a significant amount of weight during this time but has since made a full recovery. She is now eating and drinking well and is back to her normal, happy self.
Darcey has been raised with my 3-year-old and 9-year-old children and is friendly with all people and animals, showing no signs of reactivity. She currently lives with me and 10 other dogs.
She gets along well with other dogs but prefers not to share her toys. She especially enjoys one-to-one playtime with her humans.
Darcey is not food-reactive toward people; however, she may growl if another dog attempts to take food from her bowl. For this reason, she should be fed separately from other dogs. She is completely comfortable with people, including children, around her food.
She is both crate trained and house trained, and she walks beautifully on the lead. She has also been exercised by myself using a scooter and push bike, and she has been walked in a pack environment without any issues.
Darcey is not suited to kennel life—she thrives in a home environment.
She is now ready to find her forever home. Due to her high energy and bouncy nature, she would not be suitable for homes with toddlers, as she may accidentally knock them over in excitement.
Darcey loves water, playing with balls, and tug games.
Her ideal home would be with an active family who enjoys walks and spending quality time engaging with their dog. She loves being part of the family and entertaining herself (and others) with her toys.
She may bark at new visitors initially but shows no aggression. With a simple cue, *nicely* she settles quickly and can be introduced to both people and dogs without issue. She is friendly with anyone who offers her food or plays with her.
To be clear, Darcey is **not** a protection or security dog—she is a loving family pet looking for the right home.
She really is a very cuddly & soppy girl
