Mouse | Approximately 13 years old | Neutered
We are looking for a loving home for Mouse, and ideally somewhere she can settle in (by the 3rd of October 2026).
Mouse is a very special girl who has been through quite a lot in her life, and we would absolutely love to find her the wonderful home she deserves.
We first met Mouse back in 2017. At the time, she wasn't particularly affectionate and was noticeably underfed. A few years later, her owners moved abroad and, sadly, abandoned her.
We watched Mouse sit outside her front door yelling and yelling to be let inside, waiting for people who simply weren't coming back.
After a few days, once we'd confirmed that her owners really weren't returning, we decided to take her in as a temporary foster in 2020.
Well… six months, an enormous amount of love and a very dramatic personality transformation later, Mouse had gone from a rather wary, underfed cat to an absolute sweetheart.
She was eventually adopted by a lovely lady in London, where she lived with five women in their twenties and absolutely thrived. She had a wonderful year and a half there before her owner had to relocate to South America.
Unfortunately, the journey and quarantine requirements involved in taking Mouse there would have been far too stressful and cruel for an older lady, so Mouse came back to us.
And honestly? She has become the loveliest, cuddliest little character.
These days, Mouse is the sort of cat who will happily march up to a visitor and demand attention. She loves people and will quite happily make herself comfortable next to you, on your lap, on the sofa or in your bed.
Mouse is:
Extremely affectionate
Very sociable
Wonderful with children of all ages
Very well behaved — not once has she jumped on the counter or table
Very robust and healthy for her age
Very vocal — she will absolutely tell you what she wants
Food motivated — she eats pretty much everything and is not remotely fussy
Polite — despite loving food, she won't shove everyone else out of the way and will patiently wait her turn
Easy to handle — she tolerates claw trimming and brushing with very little resistance
Playful — she still loves toys and her scratching posts
Independent when she wants to be — she's perfectly happy chilling outside or having a nap somewhere sunny
We've fostered and petsat dozens of animals over the last four years, including cats, kittens, dogs, puppies and rabbits, and Mouse has been an absolute gem with every single one.
She would be perfectly happy as an only cat, but she is equally happy living alongside other animals.
Mouse has a very sophisticated list of hobbies:
Sunbathing outside
Getting enthusiastically spanked on the bum
Belly rubs
Playing with toys
Scratching posts
Eating absolutely anything
Drinking lots of water
Sleeping on your bed
Sleeping on the sofa
Supervising everyone
Going outside and then immediately demanding to be let back inside
She has also perfected the art of knocking on the door with her paws when she wants to come back in.
She does tend to put on a little winter weight every year, but honestly… who are we to judge?
Mouse is very much an outdoor cat.
Although she loves spending time indoors and will happily curl up with you, she is used to having access to a garden and does around 99% of her toileting outside.
She very occasionally uses a litter tray indoors, but she is much happier doing her business outside.
Unfortunately, we are moving to a home without a garden, and while Mouse could probably manage being indoors for a short period, we don't feel it would be fair to permanently take away something that is such an important part of her life.
For this reason, Mouse needs a home with safe outdoor access. Catflap is not necessary, and she will let you know when she wants to go in/out. She will also happily wander outside while you are at work; we tend to leave bowls of dry food and water by the door for her if we are out all day. She is pretty happy being left for up to 3 nights alone, and we have done this a fair few times with an open window for her to go in and out as she pleases. She will yell at you once you are back, so be prepared to give her extra attention upon your return.
What sort of home are we looking for?
Most importantly, a loving one.
Mouse would suit someone who wants a companion cat.
She would be happy:
As your only pet
With other cats
With dogs (ideally not large ones, as she will keep her distance and will not engage with them)
With rabbits
With children of any age
With someone who has plenty of time for cuddles and attention
She really is incredibly easy-going.
We would love to keep Mouse forever, but unfortunately our upcoming move means that we cannot give her the outdoor access she needs (and we originally only planned to foster her for a few months).
Our moving date is 3rd October 2026, so we are hoping to find Mouse somewhere to go by then.
However, we would also seriously consider a temporary foster home.
We have a family member returning to the UK in Jan 2027 who would potentially be able to take Mouse permanently, so if someone could offer her a loving temporary home until then, that would also be an enormous help.
Mouse won't be arriving empty-pawed!
She will come with:
Her favourite blanket
Food bowls
Wet food
Dry food
Litter tray, if needed
Litter she's already used to
Brush
Toys
Collar
Extra flea and worming treatments
Our house is currently absolute chaos because we're in the middle of preparing for our own move, but you're very welcome to come and meet Mouse.
She has been part of our lives for years, and we want to make sure she goes somewhere where she will be loved, cuddled, spoiled and treated like the little queen she believes she is.
