Nicky is a 3-year-old rescue who came from the fields of Romania. She’s already been through so much, including raising two large puppies—something we can’t even imagine given her tiny frame. Thankfully, our volunteer found her and took her to safety
From her foster. She’s only been with me for a week, but the progress she’s made is incredible. When she first arrived, she was terrified and wouldn’t let me approach her. Now, she’s had her first bath, wears a collar and lead, and we’re enjoying gentle walks together—she’s already great on the lead!
Nicky can still be anxious and barks at visitors, but this is improving as she begins to feel safe. I truly believe she’s trying to protect herself and me, as she follows me everywhere and seeks comfort in my presence.
She now enjoys cuddles, sleeps peacefully in her crate, is fully house-trained, and even uses the cat flap! She gets along wonderfully with my other dogs and cat, and has recently started to show an interest in play—another big step forward.
Nicky is ready for a loving home with patient, understanding people who can continue to help her blossom. She may have had a difficult start, but she has so much love to give.
Her Story
She was abandoned in a field close to our transporter’s facility while heavily pregnant. The staff from the facility began feeding her, and within days she had given birth to her puppies. The facility staff then took Nicki and her pups in to keep them safe. When one of our volunteers dropped some of our dogs off, she was asked if she could also take Nicki.
