Suki Update đŸ
Suki is a 6-month-old Miniature Dachshund bitch currently being fostered in an adult family home in Gloucestershire with multiple dogs.
Suki came into our care after she bit a very young child. She had previously given warning signals, and with another baby on the way her owner felt it was too great a risk to keep her. This was not a decision taken lightly.
We are now slowly getting to know Suki. When we first met her, she was extremely fearful â visibly shaking and growling. However, it didnât take long for her to realise we were okay. Even on the short journey home, the fear began to melt away, her tail started wagging, and she showered us with kisses â just as you would expect from a puppy of her age.
Much more relaxed

When she arrived at her foster home she did revert back to being anxious, but she quickly learned to trust her foster mum. She was initially barky and growly when other family members came home, but after spending more time together over the weekend she is beginning to relax and settle.
She improves every day. She can still become overwhelmed at times, but we are taking things slowly and building her confidence step by step, helped greatly by the other dogs in the home, who she gets along with beautifully.

Her foster mum is a dog walker, and Suki has been out on various walks with different dogs, which she absolutely loves. She settles well at night, is almost fully house trained, and travels well in the car.

We truly believe Suki will overcome her fears given the progress she has already made. However, it is absolutely vital that we get her homing right. She will only be considered for an adult-only home with no children.
She is extremely fearful and mistrustful of children, and visiting grandchildren would also be a problem. We want her transition from rescue to forever home to be as easy and stress-free as possible.
Suki will need experienced adopters, ideally with good knowledge of rescue dogs and Dachshunds. They are not always the âeasyâ dogs people believe them to be â especially a fearful young one.
Confident resident dogs would be a bonus, along with the right lifestyle and understanding for this special little girl.
Please do not apply if you have not read and understood our homing criteria, as we will not compromise on Sukiâs safety or wellbeing.
Suki is fully vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea-treated. She is too young to be spayed, but this will be a requirement of the adoption agreement. We will not home her to anyone with entire dogs.
We will continue to work with Suki and will update her profile as she progresses.
