Description
Well reared hatchlings from our own resident tortoises, feeding well on a natural diet of wild plants(weeds) only and a calcium/vitamin supplement. These tortoises were hatched in June/ July and currently averaging 4.5 centimetres in plastron length. When fully grown, males will reach about 13 cms and females will reach around 20 cms in carapace length. Its impossible to determine the gender of young tortoises until they are 3-4 years old. Whilst young they will require a suitable lit and heated indoor habitat and at around 2 years old will require access to being outside ideally with a form of supplementary heating for cooler days and are best hibernated over the winter.
