Benji is a beautiful boy.
We rescued him 5 years ago from Bulgaria.
My husband and I have separated and while we have tried to make it work with Benji, it’s just not sustainable and Benji is becoming a little anxious.
Benji is a mix of a border collie and (we think!) German Shepherd.
He’s loyal, seriously treat driven and a follower. Going to the toilet? Benji coming too.
Going to bed? Benji coming.
Getting a load out of the washing machine? Yep, Benji coming for that adventure too.
He loves people, loves children and like to sleep. ON YOU.
He’s an attached and protective dog, a wonderful friend and really listens to what you have to say.
Negative on the brucella import test - I have proof.
Healthy boy - he’s had bad teeth from the past so they need regular cleaning.
The bad bits:
Having rescued him, he has some inevitable trauma. He was covered in wounds when he first arrived and was so fragile and terrified it was heart breaking.
Before he was rescued by the shelter in Bulgaria, he was a mistreated boy and lived on the streets.
As such, while he likes other dogs, he doesn’t really know how to interact with them so he just barks at them, he needs to be on a lead in public.
He will chase a cat - street dog in him sees food and his prey drive kicks in, so the lead is a must.
He doesn’t know what to do with toys by himself, loves to play tug but on his own he just looks at the toy confused.
He doesn’t like being on his own at all - 2-3 hours max a day.
He needs to stay as an only dog, the barking will be incessant, we’ve tried it. He gets jealous and just wants you to himself.
Truly well behaved in the office - people love him.
He loves being groomed by our mobile groomer.
I’m struggling to picture my life without Benji so I will be ridiculously picky about who he goes to, your home and family must be right for him.
