Description
I am selling my almost two year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. He is very, very loved but it is just not working out due to my own problems, nothing to do with him, which is heartbreaking for me but I want the best for him.
He is loving, playful, athletic, funny, full of life and extremely special. He has some quirky behaviours (but they are nothing to do with me rehoming him). He is not your typical placid or lazy Cavalier. He is quite chatty with grumbles and whines, and he provides endless entertainment and love. He is so excitable that he can get overstimulated sometimes, which needs managing with distractions etc. He is very much a spaniel who needs lots of stimulation, jumps up and can be very mouthy, but please don't let this put you off because he is very gentle and has amazing bite inhibition, he just loves having fingers in his mouth for some reason! He needs a busy home with lots going on where he will receive plenty of attention.
He loves to play and turns into a tiny tiger during playtime. He will snarl and pounce, but there is absolutely no aggression, he just loves to play so much. He loves playing with other dogs. He would love to live with a playmate, but it's not essential.
He lives for his walks, and would happily walk all day long, but is also fine with just a 20 minute walk occasionally. He is very friendly on walks and loves to quietly sniff other dogs. He goes at 100 miles per hour on his Flexi lead and pulls like a train. He gets very excited when he sees you pick up his harness/lead or your coat, because he knows what this means! I distract him with a lickimat whilst I get ready. He really needs walks in green spaces where he can run on his Flexi lead. He doesn't like busy, built up areas at all.
He loves a cosy lap to sit on, but more than anything, he loves to run! He cannot be let off lead because he will run as far and as fast as he can. If he sees a cat/squirrel/bird on the way to chase and bark at, it would be the best day ever. He cannot live with cats due to this prey drive.
He is housetrained and neutered, and sleeps in a crate at night. He can be left in his crate for a few hours. He has no resource guarding, aggression or fears, though he can be wary of strange big dogs as they have snapped at him in the past.
He has a clean bill of health from the vet. Both parents were four years old with green CKCS heart scheme tests when they had him, plus all the standard DNA testing is clear. He has a very low in-breeding co-efficient (his mum, from a Health Champions line, was imported from another country).
He is 8kg and very handsome. He doesn't need to go to the groomers as his hair doesn't get long, but his ears do need brushing regularly. He doesn't like this at all so I have to put butter on a lickimat and trick him whilst I brush him.
I am selling for £1500. This is because he cost £2500 as a puppy, he is kennel club registered, he is very healthy which is unusual for a cavalier, he has a low in-breeding coefficient, and I also want a serious, genuine buyer who will give him all the love he deserves. If you are patient, loving, and missing an excited fluff ball in your life, please get in touch. Please be aware that I will ask you questions about your set up and what you can offer him.
