Handsome 18 week (5 month) old blue bearded British tailed Araucana boy.
With maturity he has developed some attractive barring in his male hackle, wing and saddle feathers, (see photos), never seen before in any previous male offspring from my one 4 year old blue cockerel.
The other mystery is his gorgeous iridescent pink/blue ear lobes (similar to those of a Silkie only more pink). I've tried to catch this in the photos. But his parents are genuinely araucana so I presume these things to be a past genetic throw down! Have read somewhere that Silkies did contribute the crest.
If (like me) you would not interested in showing anyway, and fancy blue or green eggs (depending on your hens) and a friendly bird, then you have one very handsome, healthy, strong, confident boy, himself hatched from the much sought after classic duck-egg blue araucana egg, (just extra beautiful!). He may still produce quality show birds with some quality araucana girls of his own!
Included somewhere in the photos is dad, blue and mum, black.
Tony has been lovingly home raised as a pet, on an entirely organic diet including the fresh veg and treats. He is used to being handled, eats from hand, finger trained, enjoys snuggles but now his hormones are kicking in he is naturally on edge with his otherwise tolerant dad regularly having to remind him who's boss!
Looking for his forever home with his own hareem where he will be safe and loved and I will wait as long as it takes to find this .
