Description
I have 20 ovum giant african land snails ready for new homes.
Hatched mid July to mid August (2 batches of eggs ) and all doing well.
Eating a mix of fruit and veg daily. Very active at night.
Bred from my own (last pic) and my daughters adults.
Have a variety of colours available from white. Grey/blue to black.
The "ovum" giant African land snail is a subspecies of Archachatina marginata known for its large size and distinctive apricot-yellow columella (the central pillar of the shell). Also called the Giant West African Land Snail, this species is popular as a pet due to its size but is also considered invasive in many areas, requiring strict containment.
Characteristics
Scientific Name: Archachatina marginata ovum
Size: Can grow to an average shell length of around 18cm, with a diameter of 13cm. It is known for its wide shell, making it heavier than other giant African land snails.
Coloration: A key distinguishing feature is the apricot-yellow color of the columella and the parietal area, while the rest of the shell has a lighter background with brown streaks.
Temperament: Generally considered to have a manageable temperament for a pet.
