Description

Posting on behalf of my mum. 3 year old Lulu is in need of a new loving home due to my mums health conditions. She can't be left very long and needs someone who understands the breed and who has the time and patience for her. Lulu barks at any noises or if she senses someone near the home. She suffers with anxiety and could do with some behavioural work. She loves the warmth, sunbathing in the summer and loves cuddling up under a blanket or duvet. She is very guarding of my mum. My mum's had her since she was 16weeks old. She came from a young couple with a baby. We noticed Lulu didn't like men and took longer to accept a man. She has improved with this but still takes some time to build trust with anybody. She is wary with other dogs but tends to gravitate to other dogs the same breed. It might be that she needs the company of another dachshund but we can't be sure of this. Lulu is microchipped and up to date with vet health checks, vaccines and flea and worm treatment. She is also neutered.

Cons

Not the best choice for first time owners because Dachshunds often have a mind of their own
Care must be taken with puppies because they must not be allowed to jump up or down from anywhere because it could damage their backs and joints
They are prone to putting on too much weight if not given enough daily exercise
The breed is known to suffer from quite a few health concerns so vet bills can be high and why pet insurance is so important for anyone owning a Dachshund
