Description
I’m rehoming my beautiful bonded pair of lovebirds. They are around 2 years old. I got them last summer when I went to pick up a cage for my green cheek conure and was unexpectedly offered them by the previous owner. I took them in as I didn’t want them going to just anyone, but I hadn’t planned on adding a pair to my flock, and with my future travel plans changing, it’s no longer feasible or fair on them to stay.
They have just raised their first clutch of chicks, but I’ve done by best to limit breeding/egg laying as much as possible because I value their health and well-being. Because of this, I want them to go to a home that is not focused solely on breeding, and instead offers them enrichment, a varied diet, and a space to fly.
They aren’t hand tame, but they are very sweet characters - the female is a bit bolder and will sometimes sit on your hand if you have food in it. They are great at going back into their cage when let out for a fly. You can simply guide them gently and they fly back in easily.
I would prefer a home with:
• An indoor aviary if not going to be let out often, or a big cage and a room they can fly in.
• A focus on enrichment, natural behaviour, and wellbeing
• Ideally someone with some experience of parrots
They are also on a really good diet and enjoy it - parrot chop (all essential fruit and veg and other good things like chickpeas and lentils), some seed (low sunflower mix), and Harrison’s bird pellets (soaked), and lafeber fruit and pellet balls.
This is a very heart-led rehoming, and I’ll only consider homes where I feel they’ll be safe, respected, and well cared for.
I believe they may be a cross between a Fischer's and Lilian’s, though I can’t confirm tnis 100%.
Please message me if interested.
