About Minnow
At the beginning of May, our Head of Adoptions, Eve, was alerted to a family of dogs living on a disused piece of farmland in the middle of nowhere. The dogs had been reported to have been terrified, but one by one she managed to lure the puppies to safety.
All of the puppies were frozen with fear when they were first rescued. Their interactions with humans had probably been extremely limited and it’s likely they’d never really been handled or up close to them before. It took a while before the pups would warm to anyone at the shelter and they watched their mum closely to figure out how they should behave. As of the 20th July, the Farm Family are now all in UK foster homes waiting to find their permanent families.
Minnow has settled into her foster home beautifully in such a short space of time. She currently lives alongside another resident dog who she loves to hang out with, whether that’s curling up together, chasing each other, or playing rough and tumble in the garden. She also loves meeting new dogs out and about, and we think she would be happiest in a home with another four legged friend as she’s very sociable with other pups and responds well to their company.
After just one week in the UK, Minnow cracked house training and only ever goes outside or on puppy pads now. She is very friendly with everyone she meets and doesn’t show any fear around traffic, new people, or unfamiliar dogs. She is also really happy and friendly around children of all ages! Since discovering toys, Minnow has decided her favourites are the rope ones, and she’s loving having her own things to play with - something she never had in the shelter. She has also adjusted well to sleeping overnight, and is partial to a lie in every now and again, bonus!!
Minnow would be a lovely addition to a family home, similarly to that of her current foster home where she has really started to come into her own. She would also love a little garden to play in. She is very cuddly, friendly and affectionate and adores kisses and cuddles from those she loves, but she’s also quick to make friends with new people too. Minnow does show a little separation anxiety, but she’s getting there gradually. The company of another dog is helping her a lot, and although she does cry to start with she settles down after a short time. She has adapted to home life much faster than we thought she would and we know she’s going to be an amazing companion for a lucky family out there!
