Otis is a beautiful 4 year old male lurcher who is needing a new home.
He is neutered and fully house trained.
He's a playful, energetic boy who needs an owner that is active and consistent, preferably with past experience with rescue dogs.
I rescued him towards the end of 2023 from the Sheffield City Council Kennels.
Due to this, we have little knowledge of his previous life, other than he was found as a stray.
He has some anxious behaviours, and can be reactive towards other dogs & animals so he ideally needs to be the only pet in the household.
Although he loves meeting new people, he can show signs of protectiveness and needs reassurance to be fully comfortable.
He loves his treats, toys and plenty of rest but can exhibit resource guarding behaviours if he feels these are threatened.
We believe with consistent training, time & effort he will become a great companion for the right owner.
Once Otis has created a strong bond with his owner, he is very affectionate, cuddly and relaxed.
We have made the incredibly difficult decision to rehome him as we live quite a busy lifestyle, and we recognise that he requires more time and effort than we can provide for him to live his happiest life. We know that with the right owner Otis will be more relaxed, and overall happier which we believe will massively improve some of his behaviours. We have previously sought advice from a dog behaviourist that believes the lifestyle that we lead is a major stressor for him, and we would love for him to be much more stress free.
As there aren't currently many children in our lives, Otis is untested around kids. But due to some of his behaviours we think he would be better suited to a household without children as it will be most comfortable for him.
We can provide food, crates, beds, blankets and toys upon collection.
