Description
We are desperately seeking a foster or forever home for Rufus, one of our rescued dogs, as his current family are unable to keep him much longer — and he will have to go into kennels if we can’t find somewhere quickly.
Rufus was adopted 5 months ago, but sadly, due to his playful and energetic nature, he’s become too much for the older resident dog. They now have to be kept separated, and the situation is no longer sustainable.
💛 About Rufus
Rufus is a handsome 10.5 month-old Mioritic Shepherd mix who came to the UK with his five siblings. He’s had no history of mistreatment and has grown up loved and socialised.
He’s a big-hearted, affectionate cuddle bug who loves to lean in for fuss and attention. Rufus is exceptionally bright, curious, and full of life — he thrives on learning new tricks and playing games, especially anything involving sniffing or problem-solving. His new home will have to provide stimulation. He already knows sit, wait, down, and the release command free.
🏡 Ideal Home
Rufus would do best with a confident and experienced owner, ideally someone familiar with shepherd breeds, as he can show some behaviour (typical for his breed).
He would be happiest in an adult-only or older-teen home, with a secure, good-sized garden where he can burn off energy and play.
🐕 Other Animals
Rufus can be good with other dogs, provided introductions are slow and careful, and there’s enough space. He’s very playful and lively, so he might overwhelm calmer or older dogs.
🚶♂️ Out & About
Rufus loves long walks, sniffing adventures, and a bit of fun. He walks nicely on a loose lead, is clean in the house, crate-trained, and can be left alone for a few hours. He may bark occasionally but mostly settles and sleeps through the night. His recall is improving, and we use a trailing lead in open areas.
❤️ What Rufus Needs
• A calm, experienced home (adult-only or older teens)
• Someone willing to continue his training and build his confidence
• Time, patience, and lots of cuddles
Rufus is a lovely, loyal boy who just needs the right person to guide him and help him flourish. He’s full of love and potential — please, if you can offer him a safe and happy home, even on a foster basis, get in touch urgently.
📩 Rufus doesn’t deserve to end up in kennels — let’s find him the home he truly deserves.
