Description

Samson is a super sweet, cheeky and genuine 12 year old cob gelding. Approximately 13.1/13.2 (I’m 5’4) A really nice sort who will happily turn his hoof to anything, an ideal low level allrounder. I bought Samson after a short time out of riding and he’s helped my confidence greatly. He’s a more forward going type but nothing a more confident older child / teenage or smaller adult couldn’t handle. He’s just not your ‘dead slow’ cob, apart from if you’re hacking! Sam’s done a lot of hacking and this shows, he’s not the spooky type and very happy to go last in a group and walk / trot / canter without needing to rush to be up front. He can lead however needs a little more encouragement and a bit more leg, same when hacking alone, just needs a bit of a nudge on. Samson is a bit green in the school, he’s mainly hacked so is a little unbalanced, however improving well and is happy to walk, trot and canter on both reins. Sam’s happy to pop over coloured poles along with jumps and is currently jumping smaller 50/60 courses at home. Has seen a few fillers and hasn’t been bothered. I’ve taken Samson XC schooling which he absolutely LOVED! Was happy going around by himself in a large open field and wasn’t spooky and went over brushes, small tables, bushes and a little ditch. Prior to myself Samson lived in a large herd where he was bottom of the pecking order and also was stabled. With myself he’s lived out by himself 24/7 and is very happy. Something I did find, when Sam first came to me he was quite shouty and a little stressed going into the stable by himself, he had been very use to living in a herd and all horses turning in and out together and that routine changed for him, he has greatly improved and is better now however something to mention he may do again at a new yard. Can be a little strong occasionally leading back to his field but more so for wanting food / grass, again has improved greatly but can imagine for a small child would pull them. Has also driven which I have a photo and video of but not with myself. Passported, wormed and farrier up to date. Recently had a Stage 2 Vetting in June with only 1 minor remark which will be discussed and disclosed, however nothing to affect him being a low level alrounder! Going to a local show jumping competition next week where price will increase Would love for Sam to go to an older child or teenager. Can go with fly rug and turnout rug.
