Description

Updated; Due to time wasters we are updating Petal's advert. I have reduced the rehoming cost as we need to look to rehome as soon as we can as it's incredibly hard to keep dragging it out. We have had a lot of enquiries regarding Petal which is amazing but many enquires have been regarding Petal as an assistance dog. We are rehoming only to a loving forever pet home. We don't feel it's the right thing for Petal to start again as it's been a while and it may be confusing. We only highlighted she had been training to give an honest history of why we were in the situation. Please read and get in touch if you feel you are able to give her the forever home she deserves. Petal is a super special Frenchie whom we love very much but, Petal was training as our daughters assistance dog; everything was great until our daughter was unable to access school in late 2023 as her mental health and SEN needs deteriorated significantly. This has meant Petal's 'job' stopped and Petal has found it hard to adjust as she's now just at home all the time with us rather than going into school. Her relationship changed with our little girl as she associates a lot of negativity with Petal sadly and is now totally disengaged with her. This is incredibly hard for us to see and manage so this is in best interest for her. She's struggled with not having a purpose as she craves activity and become overly attached to our much older Springer. Due to the unending medical appts, our own full time jobs and complexity of special needs our children have, we feel we are unable to give her the level of stimulation she needs and is very active and excitable. She's house trained, amazingly loving and loves humans in all shapes and sizes. She enjoys meeting other dogs but on her terms as she likes to be off her lead to explore. She's very vocal like many Frenchies and, her breed's nature mean she can be a bit anxious which we see more in environments she isn't 'in charge' of such as vet visits! our family situation is greatly changed from how it was when she first came home and our daughter no longer in school with Petal with her working and training several times a week, it's just not enough for her ; she needs to be 'doing' and needs more attention as it takes her more activity to tire and calm down. She gets herself into mischief which isnt ger fault it's simply because she needs a setting that can put that time and effort into her and manage her curiosity, exuberance and energy. It's primarily our daughters needs that have impacted the situation and Petal's "need for speed' goes in to occupying herself and often result in frustration for us as we know its the lack of stimulation. She loves cuddles, she will lay and relax but needs tiring out first. Having had this little fur ball from a baby we know her very well and we believe Petal would be best as an only pet too. She needs love and attention on tap as she can be quite full on as well as demonstrating anxieties and making this known by crying, she hates being on her own so someone who is out of the house for long periods is not the right home! She currently lives with an older Springer Spaniel whom she is very attached too as well as a cat. Please only respond to this if you are genuinely able to offer a home you feel is conducive with Petal's needs; lots of walks, somewhere to run, time to spend occupying her with mental stimulation etc....as this is extremely difficult for us and we never imagined being in a situation where our daughter was not in a school (as is the situation we are in) and juggling the needs of our complex family (we have 4 children with additional needs and I have health challenges) We have discussed this at length with our vet as we are not a family who make decisions lightly and feel we have failed by having to consider this as a solution but she has reassured we are doing this for the right reasons. Petal has been spayed, is fully vaccinated until next summer and is micropchipped. She is KC registered for which we have the documents for but we did not transfer these from the original breeder as these were not important to us. Her breeder was extremely thorough as he bred his beloved pet ( her mum) purely to have another of his own so Petal's family line is impressive with champions galore! Please read as its really hard to feel like we are letting people down by advising we are looking for a pet home not for her to be an assitance dog and it's taking longer to rehome and causing additional distress at home.
