💕 Dexter is an 8,5 years old Pomeranian cross, surrendered due to a combination of his owner’s health difficulties and behaviours that were described as “anxiety”. In reality, much of what Dexter shows is very typical for his breed — strong attachment to his person, alertness, and sensitivity to change.
Dexter is a deeply bonded, intelligent little companion who needs a home that understands small companion breeds.

💔 Background
Dexter has lived closely bonded to his owner. As his owner’s health declined, everyday dog management became overwhelming, leading to the heartbreaking decision to surrender him.
A situation where the human circumstances changed and Dexter’s needs could no longer be met.
🐾 More About Dexter
Dexter is affectionate and enjoys human company. He is alert and expressive, especially when people arrive or when he hears noises outside — behaviour that is very common for Pomeranian-type dogs. He enjoys toys, attention, and routine, and settles well when his needs are met.
Dexter does have moments where he is triggered to growl, snarl or sometimes nip. These instances aren’t very common and are never spontaneous (he would never come up to you and just bite you for no reason). They are only really triggered, when, for example, trying to physically move him, although it’s easy to manage just calling him to get a treat. He always gives plenty of warning that he is unhappy and will not snap unless someone doesn’t listen him and uses force.
He walks nicely on the lead, enjoys car journeys, and is happy relaxing at home once exercised. He is not destructive and can be left alone for reasonable short periods.
His favourite toys are anything that squeaks but squeaky balls trump everything for him. He also enjoys licky mats and we’ve found this to be a very effective way of distracting him and calming his energy levels / anxiety down.
Dexter benefits from calm handling and clear boundaries. He does not enjoy being grabbed or hugged tightly, which is typical for many small dogs and easily respected in the right home.
🏡 Ideal Home
Dexter would suit a calm, understanding home with people who are familiar with small companion breeds. He will thrive with routine, consistency, and respectful handling.
A quieter household with adults or older children who understand dogs would be ideal. He is not suited to chaotic or very noisy homes.
🩺 Health Information
Dexter is neutered, microchipped, and the rescue has already completed his dental treatment.
He is otherwise healthy.
