Forrest is our delightful 1.5yr old English Springer spaniel. He is in excellent health, still intact under the advise of our vet who said to hold off for as long as we can with neutering. He is a very bounced boy, bags and bags of energy!!
Forrests dad is from the working line and Forrest clearly takes after him. He is nose to the ground always!
It's become evident that he needs way more than what we can offer him. Ideally, he really needs to go to someone who pretty much lives outdoors!
If you can give him a job, even better!
He craves stimulation and absolutely loves running, he can run all day. His favourite thing is to hunt himself down a good stick, which he can also sniff out and know it's his.
Forrest is amazing with other dogs, He lives with a bulldog who is his closed companion. Forrest also lives with a cat so would not be fased once acquainted. He will however chase stranger cats and squirrels but just to play. He's never hurt another animal. He is brilliant with children and lives with 3 children 2 of which are autistic. Forrest is naturally very submissive towards humans but really enjoys a cuddle.
It will break my heart to see him go but it also pains me knowing we just can't keep up with his level of stimulation.
I really don't want him joining police forces or any emergency service. I want him to go to a loving home who can offer him both agility and cuddles. He would suit a runner for sure!
He is completely house trained where toileting is concerned however...If ADHD was a dog, Forrest is it and he can forget himself and let out a little pee pee when he is excited or nervous. Forrest is crate trained also.
Forrest has a brilliant recall when out in woodland and fields but without further training he should not be off lead on the street or near roads as this is the only time he suddenly has selective hearing and can be unpredictable. This will be up to his forever home to put in the time to correct. We live on a nature reserve so he's never really had to focus on busy roads.
Forrest is happiest when he is knee deep in mud, stick in mouth and soaking wet.
He will be 2yrs old on 27th October 2025. If you have another dog I would suggest the first meet to be on neutral ground with your dog to see how they get along.
