Description
It is with great sadness that we have come to the difficult decision to rehome our beautiful cat, Jude.
Jude is approximately 8 to 9 months old, as advised when we adopted him through Pets4Homes around three weeks ago. He is truly a wonderful cat. He is friendly, confident, affectionate, playful, and extremely sociable. He loves people and settles quickly into home life.
Unfortunately, over the past 10 days, Jude has begun persistently intimidating and overwhelming our resident cat. The cats were introduced carefully, and initially everything went very well. However, Jude has since started displaying strong territorial and dominant behaviour. He frequently pounces on and chases our other cat. While this appears to be playful behaviour rather than aggression, our resident cat finds it very distressing.
Our other cat has become increasingly fearful, hiding and running away whenever Jude approaches. This has created an unhealthy and stressful environment for him. We have tried extensive measures to resolve the situation, including multiple litter trays, separate feeding areas, additional beds and safe spaces, increased play and enrichment time, grooming routines, and the use of four Feliway diffusers throughout the house. Sadly, despite all efforts, the behaviour has not improved, and our resident cat is becoming more withdrawn each day.
For this reason alone, we feel it is in both cats' best interests to find Jude a more suitable home.
Jude is genuinely a dream companion. He loves human company, follows you from room to room, enjoys sitting on your lap, and happily entertains himself with toys, especially chasing balls. He makes the sweetest cooing sounds, gives affectionate headbutts, and is completely confident around people. He loves being stroked, happily shows his belly, and often sleeps belly-up in total relaxation.
We believe Jude would thrive best as the only cat in the household, where he can receive all the attention he seeks. He would likely do very well in a family environment with children, given his sociable and confident nature. We are unsure how he is with dogs, as this has not been tested.
Jude is neutered and microchipped. We were informed that he is vaccinated, although vaccination records were not provided to us.
We are looking for a loving, permanent home with outdoor access; a house with a garden is a must. No flat, please. We are not in a rush and will only rehome Jude to the right family, as his well-being is our absolute priority.
