This handsome chap is a solid stamp of a horse, the good old 'leg in each corner'.
In his current home he isn't hunted, unfortunately, that is mostly all he has done previously and it's what he loves to do.
He isn't for novice or nervous riders. He isn't nasty, but he can be sharp and get a silly "let's go" head on him at inappropriate places. He's easy to handle in these situations but could put off riders who aren't quite used to quirky horses. This is seemingly a seasonal issue as when fully turned out in summer he doesn't put a hoof out of place.
Bert can work well in the school, little work needed on his canter in the school to establish more balance, but he'd do a nice prelim test and has room to progress further.
However, jumping is his passion. Line him up and he's off. Being heavy set he's not going to be your next 1.30m showjumper, but would excel around a hunter trials or, as first stated, out hunting you'll be flying!
He's no issue out in traffic and currently lives in a farm with livestock, tractors and much more machinery, never fazed by anything.
On the ground he's a very sweet boy, will stand for farrier, and clips out nicely.
Up to date with feet, teeth, he also boxes and travels like a dream.
