Cooper is 3 years old and arrived in a foster home just last Sunday and is now in Hampshire, UK, waiting to be adopted.
Cooper had been in a shelter in Cyprus since February. He is your typical beagle; happy-go-lucky, loves human attention and affection & will snuggle up to you for cuddles or lay flat on his back for belly rubs. He absolutely adores children. His whole demeanour changes when he is around them. So we want him to be homed with a family.
We have no known history of Cooper other than he was found as a stray. From the minute he arrived in foster it was like he had always been there. Enjoying snuggles with him foster mum and grandkids and playing in the garden with the resident dogs.
Cooper is an easygoing boy, which is just amazing given his length of time in the shelter after likely being given up by what he once considered his family.
He enjoys spending time with adults, children, dogs - anything & everyone really.
Cooper would enjoy anything as long as his family are with him, whether it be cuddles on the sofa, a long walk taking in all the smells along the way or a play in the garden.
He is only a small-medium boy, making him the perfect easy-going companion. He’s more than happy to be a couch potato when needed.
He is very quick to learn & eager to please & will be easy to train with his love for food. He has no food guarding issues with dogs or humans which is amazing given he loves his food so much!
He has a crate without a door that he will occasionally take himself off into & uses it as a place to stash his toys.
He loves to play and is already bringing toys & balls back to be thrown. He loves playing with children or cuddling up to them & his tail wags so much when he sees children on his walks. He also walks well on the leash.
The reason Cooper was in the shelter so long is because he has leishmania. He was constantly overlooked, even though he is an absolute joy. Please don’t let this disease define him. It is easily managed with cheap tablets, which he happily takes straight from your hand or in his food. It doesn’t affect how long he will live, doesn’t affect insurance premiums, and cannot be transmitted to other pets or humans. Many dogs live long and happy lives with leishmania. Cooper is otherwise a healthy boy. We just hope someone sees how wonderful he is regardless of leishmania.
