Description
Black Swedish ducks are a hardy, large domestic duck breed with black plumage, a white bib, and a white neck, resembling the mallard but with a distinct black colour. Developed in the Pomerania region (now parts of Germany and Poland) in the 1800s, they are excellent foragers and are valued for meat and eggs, though they grow slowly. While not a separate breed from the Swedish Blue, the Black Swedish is considered homozygous for black, meaning they always produce black offspring, unlike the Swedish Blue, which produces a mix of black, blue, and silver offspring
