Description
Betsy is around 10 kg in weight and thought to be a Harehound cross, hence her being a bit smaller than other hounds. She is only 2 years old and has seen so many changes already in her little life.
She is currently in a foster home in UK , but was found wondering the streets of Cyprus, looking for food, very scared and difficult to approach. After a few attempts she was caught and taken to safety to a local pound, where she was being looked after. What has happened to her.. why she found herself on a streets … Was she an outgrown gift? Dogs in Cyprus are frequently dumped when their owners become bored with them; was poor little Betsy simply left like rubbish?
Betsy is a stunning girl, with black, white and tan markings. Her coat looks as though she is wearing a fine black cloak, which fastens under her chin, then continues all the way down to her tail :) Her tan face has the sweetest expression too, so trusting and soulful. How can you resist this little love-bug? All that love that you give to her will be returned ten-fold as she builds up her confidence and learns to trust you.
Betsy is quite a character, a lovely girl with the energy of a dynamo :) Being a young dog, she still has some new things to learn, but she is a quick learner and is doing very well with her lessons.
Her dynamic character will be perfectly suited for an active home, whether it’s with a single person, couple or a family with children over 12 years old. She will need a large garden where she can play and burn off her energy. Energetic, playful, loving, and loves as much fuss and attention that she can get.
A little more about Betsy:
o Betsy will be happier as an only dog as she can be a bit bossy with other dogs.
o Potential (!) good with cats, as she tends to avoid them on walks
o Not housetrained but learning
o Travels well in the car (excited at first, then calms down)
o Needs basic training, especially on recall
o Fearful and nervous if children approach
o Learning to share with other dogs despite her bossy personality
o Needs to eat separately as she can be annoying to other dogs if fed together
Betsy’s combination of energy and affection would make her an amazing companion for someone who can match her active lifestyle and provide the love and training she needs. Her very special traits are that she is very sweet, affectionate and absolutely loves her cuddles. She’s already on her way to becoming a well-rounded and happy dog .
Betsy contracted leishmaniasis after a bite from a pesky sandfly, but this has now been treated. One tablet a day of allopurinol keeps everything under control and does not affect her health or her beautiful personality. Betsy can live a completely normal doggy life. Many dogs are adopted like her :: leishmaniasis is not the end of the world for ! STAR will always support our Leishmania dogs with help and guidance.
Please help Betsy find the loving home she deserves!
