Description
This amazing boy has flown from Cyprus and is currently in foster in Powys ,Wales and is looking for the best home
This is what his foster mum says about him
Jeff is a gorgeous black & tan crossbreed from Cyprus and his DOB is 20/10/23. Medium size, apprx 20kg (looks bigger in his pictures). He also has a full bill of health.
He is literally a joy to be around, he is friendly with everyone, including children (He has met 3-4 year olds here and is very gentle, no jumping or face licking). He greets men and women slowly and 30 seconds later with a big wagging tail.
He loves ALL dogs. We have met large, small, friendly & reactive and he’s amazing with them all. He would love to live with another dog, he loves to play but equally he is being fostered on his own and is good as gold just playing with his toys and taking himself for jaunts or naps in the garden.
He eats well, absolutely no food aggression at all (there isn’t an aggressive bone in this dogs’ body). He might leave the food until he gets excited and then he’ll run over and eat it!
Completely house trained, has had no accidents since arriving and holds his bladder very well over night for long periods. Not destructive in the slightest, will only chew his toys. One cute thing is if you leave your shoes out he will collect them up and tidy them away for you, usually to his bed! But won’t chew them ;)
I haven’t done crate training with him as he loves his bed so much he dives into it at bed time and is quiet all night. There is 2 minutes of whining as he double checks no one is coming back down and then he is quiet till about 6.30/7am when he whines to be let out to wee, but will happily hold it if you don’t hear him.
No separation anxiety - has been left a couple times for up to 4 hours and came back to a sleeping dog in his bed with a couple of his toys tucked up with him.
He seems too good to be true I know! Issues: Small furries - He is currently chasing the resident cat and attempts to chase wild bunnies, none of this is with aggression, I honestly believe he wouldn’t hurt them but loves the chase. I would suggest he can’t lives with cats, however if you have a dog savvy cat who will stand up to him with a good hiss, he will back down immediately! Unfortunately I don’t have that cat. I have an ex feral who only knows how to run away.
On the lead: Very easy on the lead, for a medium size dog, he isn’t very strong! (He is collie/whippet size - smaller than a labrador) Only about 20kg - So if he spots a rabbit he can’t go anywhere and I can hold him easily (I’m under 5ft). He loves to check out every new scent and greet everyone with a wagging tail.
He needs basic training on recall (currently working on this) and sit etc but whilst running loose in the garden will come bounding over when called. Although he is good on the lead he needs some work as he walks like a puppy, changes sides and meanders around a lot! But he’s learning quickly and just needs more time with it.
HORSES: He met horses for the first time here and barked over the fence at them, after slow introductions they’re now all best friends. I have 3 big horses in the field and whilst in the same field as them (on the lead) he is very gentle and will share nose kisses with them, or lay down near by (off lead) to watch whilst one is his side of the fence getting groomed etc
He’s honestly the best dog, and if it wasn’t for the cat issue, I would keep him! He’s very affectionate and loves to lie next to you on the sofa and rest his head in your lap. It would be amazing for him to have a big sized garden he can take himself around and either another dog or someone around on and off in the day for company as there’s nothing he loves more.
