Description

Giant Green Bean Stick Insects (Diapherodes gigantea) x 6 Nymphs OR one breeding pair of young adults. £16 including postage (same price for either option). This listing is for 6 nymphs (1st and 2nd instar) or an adult pair of Diapherodes gigantea, the very large and beautiful bright green stick insect from Granada (otherwise known as the Giant Lime Green Stick Insect). The nymphs were produced by large mated females and which have hatched over the past few weeks. My stock seems to be larger than most with the wide bodied females averaging an adult length of 16 to 18cm, some even longer! The adult males are smaller and brown in colour and have well developed wings - they fly quite well! A care sheet will be provided and there is plenty of care information readily available on the web (just google 'Diapherodes gigantea care'). The care sheet is also provided below: Basic Care for Giant Green Bean Stick Insects (Diapherodes gigantea) House your new pets in a plastic or glass tank with enough height for them to moult easily. For Diapherodes gigantea this should be at least 40cm as they will need plenty of space when they shed their skins especially for their last moult. Place a few sheets of paper towel on the bottom of the tank to help keep it humid and make sure the temperature is kept between 18 and 28C. Provide them with lengths of Eucalyptus or bramble (blackberry) in jar of water so that they have plenty of fresh leaves to eat and branches to moult from as they grow. Use a water sprayer to give the leaves a light misting of water every day or two as they enjoy drinking the water droplets. The female stick insect can lay hundreds of eggs in her lifetime and will simply flick her eggs from the end of her abdomen. The eggs resemble small, brown seeds and will generally hatch within six months if sprayed daily with water. NOTE: We post out all orders using Royal Mail 1st Class postage on Monday and Tuesday each week. This is to - hopefully - avoid the insects being stuck in the postal system over the weekend and to ensure you receive them as soon after posting as possible.
