💙 Bertie is a 9-year-old Bichon cross, a gentle and loving boy who has known only one family until recently. He’s loyal, sensitive, and affectionate – a true companion at heart.
He went to what was hoped to be his forever home just a few days ago, but unfortunately the resident dog didn’t accept him, and they’ve begun struggling with each other. The lovely lady who took him on is now finding it too difficult to manage them both, especially to walk them together. It also seems things moved too fast for Bertie – too many new experiences (walks, vet visits, etc.) before he had time to decompress and feel safe.
👉 Bertie now urgently needs a new foster or adoptive home – somewhere calm and patient where he can rest, recover, and start again at his own pace.

Bertie lived a quiet, loving life with his previous owner, but after she had to move abroad, he suddenly found himself without a home. He is gentle and devoted – a small dog who simply wants to be close to his human and to feel safe.
After joining a new home recently, it became clear that he and the resident dog weren’t a match, and the situation became stressful for everyone involved. Bertie needs a chance to settle somewhere peaceful, ideally as the only dog, where he can finally exhale and start to trust again.
More About Bertie
Bertie is housetrained, calm in the car, and peaceful at home. He enjoys his walks and loves to sniff and explore, though he can pull when excited – especially after not being walked regularly in his former home. He’s very agile for his age and so eager to go for a walk that he practically jumps into his harness!
He bonds deeply with people and is extremely affectionate once he feels secure. Within hours of arriving at his foster home, he was giving kisses, rolling for belly rubs, and following his human everywhere. He sleeps soundly at night, loves being covered with a soft blanket, and prefers curling up beside his person rather than in a dog bed.
Bertie can get over-excited or anxious when overstimulated, particularly with sudden noises, dogs barking, or people passing the house. In these moments, he needs calm reassurance and gentle redirection. When calm, he’s a lovely, gentle little soul who simply wants to please.
Because he bonds so closely, Bertie is best suited as the only dog – so his new family can focus on helping him feel secure and rebuild his confidence without added pressure.

Bertie would thrive in a quiet, adult-only home with no other pets, where life moves at a gentle pace. He’ll be happiest with someone home most of the time, who enjoys peaceful walks, soft blankets, and loyal companionship. A garden or access to quiet walking areas would be perfect.
