We are pleased to be introducing the second litter from Bronte (3/4 Sussex 1/4 working cocker) and Morris Chip of the Old Block KC registered Working cocker.
This intentional pairing is embracing the Purbarn - breeders ethos of continuing the fabulous traits of one of Britain's most vulnerable breeds - the Sussex Spaniel (Kennel Club Vulnerable Breed Register) by crossing with Working Cockers.
So what to expect: a loyal and biddable companion that is kind and polite (Bronte is my hearing dog - I am deaf. I trained her myself). Friendly, calm, and gentle. They are alert, inquisitive, and enjoy the outdoors every bit as much as a cosy cuddle indoors. This breed makes an excellent companion.
Highly trainable, both Bronte and Morris are from hunting stock. That said, I highly recommend their offspring as pets, and I am looking to place the pups in home environments.
I am a home breeder, and the puppies are being raised within the family environment.
They will be well socialised and already head for humans!
POINT OF INTEREST
Only 24 Sussex Spaniel puppies were registered in 2024 - whereas the Cocker Spaniel registrations exceeded 23,000.
Search as you might, you are highly unlikely to find even a hint of Sussex Spaniel anywhere.
Bronte is particularly special as she was sired by Belcam Micky Taker, a Crufts prize winner.
