Description
We are selling 2 Australian Kelpie x New Zealand Huntaway puppies.
We had this litter as we are so in love with their mother (Jax), and want to forever have one of her descendants as our dog.
Jax is the most beautiful and adorable dog we have ever come across, both inside and out. We are of course biased, however, anyone that knows her also say this, as do many people who meet her on our travels and walks.
She is so intelligent that training her was an absolute pleasure, even for our first dog as a couple (with the right amount of YouTube training videos of course!).
She knows >30 commands and tricks and also is an amazingly athletic dog - we take her scrambling up mountains, on huge hikes and my partner takes her on the mountain bike trails. We heard when we were looking for a dog and researching the Kelpie, that they have an "inexaustible energy", which is very true - she can go for 11 hours with little signs of tiring.
That being said, she is equally happy with a 30 min walk and when it come to time in the home, she is a very loving, relaxed and cuddly dog, who loves a fuss and a cuddle on the sofa.
We rarely walk Jax on lead, only really when in busy towns/cities or in fields where the farmers have requested dogs to be on lead. But even then, due to the nature of our training with her, she has never shown any interest in livestock, nor animals in the wild - squirrels can run right by her and she is not phased! She doesn't have an ounce of aggression in her either, she has never shown any aggression, even with puppies hanging off of her face and our nephews pulling her about!
Having said that, if looking for a working dog, I am certain that with her intelligence, her puppies could be easily trained for whatever work they are desired for. Especially, due to the fact that the puppies are Australian Sheepdog (Kelpie) x 1/2 NZ Sheepdog (Huntaway) 1/2 Kelpie, they would make for amazing herding dogs.
As we are keeping one (Nero - red collar) and our family will be keeping another (Livia - pink collar), we have two available for homes:
- Helena (purple collar) (F)
- Titus (green collar) (M)
They are both very sweet dogs, and it took us 6 weeks to decide who we want to keep as they are all such lovely little characters!
Due to the nature of the breeds, these little balls of joy would suit a home that likes going for walks and doing training/playing with them to keep them physically and mentally stimulated (but I guess if you are looking at the breed, you know this already). Or, a working home of course.
However, Jax is also very chill to be left at home for 8 hours if needed whilst at work.
We can suggest all our favourite training videos and top tips to anyone who takes one of these so that you can have an equally amazing dog as Jax!
We have been training the pups from an early age - doing biosensor stress training (to make for resilient adults), socialising with a variety of noises, people and experiences. We will aim to have them toilet trained, crate trained and some of the classics (sit, down, wait) by the time they are ready for collection.
They will be ready to collect from the weekend of the 10/11th of Jan.
Ready to view from whenever, my partner works from home most days.
