I have a small group of baby Horsfield (Russian) tortoises available, now 16 weeks old and ready for their forever homes.
Horsfields are one of the most popular tortoise species for good reason. As adults they stay relatively small, growing to roughly the size of a breakfast bowl, and are widely considered one of the easiest tortoises to care for when kept correctly. With proper care they can live well over 80 years, making them a true lifelong companion. They’re hardy, full of character, and known for their curious, confident personalities and love of burrowing.
A full care sheet will be provided with each tortoise. I’m not currently supplying full setups, so proof of a suitable setup will need to be sent via video before sale. If you don’t yet have everything, I’m more than happy to guide you on exactly what to buy and how to set it up.
Tortoise tables or vivariums can both be used, as long as correct UVB/UVA lighting and heating are provided. These tortoises must be kept in a warm household environment to thrive.
Diet-wise, Horsfield tortoises eat a varied diet of weeds and leafy greens, such as dandelion, plantain, sow thistle and other safe wild plants, with calcium supplementation. They should not be fed supermarket salad mixes long-term. All of this is fully covered in the care sheet.
