Ozzy is a 1 year old neutered male who i am sadly looking to rehome. He is microchipped and up to date with everything. I have his vet log book up to date and some flea treatment.
I think he needs a home where the atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. He is smart so I think with some behavioural training, he could be an amazing dog for someone with experience in that department.
95% of the time he is such a lovely, cuddly dog. He gets so excited to see us in the morning or when we come home. He loves a belly rub. He is just misunderstood at times.
He lives with 2 cats but chases them.
I feel older children would be a best fit for him, although he has grown up around children and does love them.
He is toilet trained (uses a bell hanging by back door), he loves other dogs but we are rehoming due to his behavioural problem.
At the moment, he lives with me and my husband, and our 3 children who are 13, 12 and 7. He has taken a particular dislike to my eldest boy (13) and will jump at him. He has also nipped my youngest (7) a few times. He generally loves people but will jump to nip frequently which makes them nervous. He will hover at the table when eating and try nip feet but we never feed him human food. He isn't picky about his own food though.
He allows people to pick him up, he's fine in the car and on a bus and can be very cuddly. He loves his walks and can walk far but he does pull.
He is very protective over food. We don't give him chew treats because he gets very possessive.
He knows sit, paw, down and wait, he knows his name but never let him off lead.
He gets on with other dogs, he loves our other dog but will take toys off her. He doesn't like intact males around his bottom area and will get a bit iffy so I check before dogs come near. No issue with female or neutered males though.
He is not crate trained and he likes to pull apart fluff so doesn't have a bed, he sleeps on the sofa. We don't let him have free roam of the house.
I did a Wisdom Panel dna test on him and he is 50% dachshund, 36% poodle and 14% bichon.
