Description
Daphne is a 3 year old Saluki lurcher cross. We adopted her when she was 8 months. We are having to re-home her as since the surprise arrival of our little boy she has turned into a different dog, our son is now 2 and over the past two years Daphne has become more and more anxious. Most (but not all) of the negative behaviours only exist when she is around our son, they are : She is extremely protective (barks and needs to be restrained if strangers comes near the house our near us when we are out and about) some people she is fine with however. Aggressive towards dogs that come near us or that are in a pub, cafe , restaurants etc. However she is fine with them if she and they were off the lead in a park or field. Neither of the previous two behaviours happen if we don't have our son with us. For example if any of our friends family that don't have children take her for out she is fine and loves other dogs. She is very jumpy and needs a lot of exercise which she is not getting enough of with us. Other wise she will bark at you all evening. She is very vocal and sometimes in the evening or if we are round at someones house she will just bark and bark at us. On the positive side she is extremely loving and loves people and other dogs(when not around our son) very affectionate and extremely intelligent. She's is a very intuitive dog if someone is down or going through something she just knows. She has good recall and is the perfect companion or a long walk or hike. At home she is happy to just curl up next to you and sleep most of the time. She really is an amazing dog when she doesn't feel like she has to protect a baby. We had an incident with her the other day when we had gone in to a pub, we did realise there was a big dog under the table next to where we were stood with Daphne. She spotted the dog it really scared her she began to bark like crazy as my husband grabbed her coller she out of fear turned and nipped his arm. Daphne is not an aggressive dog but I felt it's important to mention this. Had we not had our child with us I know that this just wouldn't have happened and that she would be much happier and calmer with someone that doesn't have children. As we mentioned she is a fantastic companion, we only want her to go to the perfect home so she can live her best life. We are not looking for a specific price just a suitable donation.
