Meet Peanut, a 9-year-old Horsfield tortoise looking for a knowledgeable and caring new home.
Peanut recently completed a hibernation period indoors and had a full health check-up, including a beak trim. He is in good health and has a fantastic temperament—curious, independent, and gentle. He loves exploring and is a great pet!
Originally bought from a pet shop in May 2016, he has lived in 2 households, the latest with multiple pets (dog, cats, hamster, guinea pigs, gecko, budgie), so he is well-adjusted to animal companions.
His current owner feels they don’t have the proper expertise to provide him with the best long-term care.
Ideally, Peanut’s new home will be with an experienced tortoise keeper who understands his needs and can provide a spacious environment.
He loves roaming in the garden, enjoys his food especially grated carrots and warm baths, and often accompanies the family on forest walks at Wimbledon Common.
His first owner kept him in an enclosure (90 x 45cm), which was restrictive with no outdoor time, so his current owner is keen to ensure his next home offers freedom to explore and thrive.
