Diesel was my first dog and the dog I didn’t think I could ever rehome, genuinely upset I’m advertising this post. Me and my partner are both dog trainers with a baby on the way this year. We currently have a pack of 6 and had to decide which dogs would be better suited in a new home as we will have less time to give to each dog.
Diesel is a very easy dog to own, probably the easiest in our pack. However Diesel has lived a life where it was just me and him, I couldn’t drive he came everywhere with me on public transport and heeled next to my bike. With the limited time we have for each dog it’s in Diesels best interest someone gives him the time he deserves, it breaks my heart knowing that he remembers a different life.
Diesel is a 3 year old mixed breed (German Shepherd x Bullherder) from pets4homes, I’ve had him since he was 8 weeks. Diesel has not lived with children, lives with 5 other dogs in our pack plus any temporary dogs we have in, and is ex-human reactive with some genetic nerve. He currently lives outside however he his a house dog and would love an owner that appreciates him for who he is as a dog.
Diesel would suit someone that enjoys dog training as he is highly trainable, lives an active life style with a dog that can keep up with them without needing a leash (if training is maintained), or drive sports. Diesel would definitely bark at the door for a stranger, however someone that has frequent visitors in and out the house this would not suit. Diesel is crate trained, knows a large series of behaviours, has a marker system, conditioned to grot/prong, and is e collar conditioned. Diesel has very high food drive + ball/pad and loves to work for his handler.
