Description

Our 4 year old in tact male doberman is looking for a new forever home due to us no longer being able to give him the time and stimulation he needs and deserves. We have had Travis from an 8 week old puppy. As you can see from the pictures we have a young toddler that Travis is amazing with and he is also around other children of family and friends. If our toddler invades his space then he simply takes himself to another part of the house. Travis truly believes he is a little lap dog evidenced in the photos. Travis is crate trained, toilet trained and prong collar trained. He is fine travelling via vehicle although he does whine with excitement but once the initial excitement has passed he will settle and sleep for a long journey - we've regularly travelled to Tenby with Travis in the car. He will happily jump into the boot by himself. Travis is very well socialised with other dogs and people and all he ever wants to do is play. He is a very strong boy so I would say he would need to be walked by either an older teenager or an adult. Travis needs long walks every single day - maybe even multiple so would be very suited to an active family or individual. He also loves to participate in regular training with either a toy or treats. He loves the beach and gets so much joy out of digging the sand when the chance arises along with running in and out of the sea. Travis has never shown any signs of aggression to us at all and is in fact a big softy lapping up affection and cuddles whenever he gets the opportunity. He loves to play tuggy with either a rope or a strong frisby. Travis struggles with fireworks but will happily take himself into his crate to chew his blanket until he is settled. He also doesn't seem to like high Vis jackets resulting in him barking which we try and encourage him away from. Travis was previously on flee and worm treatment from the vets which made him very unwell so now receives natural flee and worm treatment via diatomaceous earth. He is scared of stairs which is very common for the doberman breed so we have never needed a baby gate to keep him from going upstairs as he would avoid them at all costs where possible. Travis would be better suited to a house with access to a garden or a property with a lot of land. Travis knows the following commands: Sit, Down, Spin, Up, Paws up, Close - left hand side of us, Right - right hand side of us, Centre - to sit between our legs whilst we are standing, Find - we hide either treats or a toy and he knows to find them, Off. In January 2025 Travis had an operation on an area of skin between his shoulder blades to remove a lump of dead fat. He has recovered perfectly and you wouldn't even know he had had it. T is happy to have his nails trimmed by us which helps us to keep his paws healthy.
