Description
Meet Brody – Your Gentle Giant
Location: Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire
Breed: Caucasian Shepherd (Ovcharka)
Age: 4 years old
Sex: Entire male
Brody came into my life just a few hours after birth. From the very start, he needed neonatal care, and I have been his devoted mum ever since. He’s not just a pet—he’s family, a constant companion, and a soft-hearted, loyal giant who brings warmth, joy, and laughter to every day.
Brody is a big, goofy sweetheart with a loveable personality. He enjoys his daily routines, including sitting like a human on the sofa watching TV, having his breakfast of buttery toast cut into soldiers (anything else, and he’ll politely reject it!), and rolling in freshly cut grass until his three-minute zoomies begin. After that, he loves nothing more than flopping down for cuddles, head scratches, and a well-earned nap. He adores affection, from gentle kisses on his face to big bear hugs, and he bonds deeply with those he trusts.
Although Brody has grown up with my four-year-old grandson and loves children, due to his size and strength, he must be rehomed without young children. Professionals have advised this is to prevent accidental knocks or injuries, despite his gentle nature. His ideal home is with adults who understand guardian breeds and can provide patience, structure, and calm leadership.
Personality & Home Life
Brody is completely house-trained and respectful indoors. He walks beautifully on the lead, greets people politely, and has never harmed another dog or person. Outdoors, brody can be reactive to other dogs he doesn’t like—but it’s all noise and no malice. He currently lives with a Shih Tzu, a cat, and family dogs, and gets along with those he knows. Brody is intelligent, loyal, affectionate, and deeply bonded once he trusts you. With time, he reveals his goofy, playful, and loving side.
Ideal Home
Brody needs:
An experienced owner familiar with guardian breeds.
A calm, secure environment with a large, fully fenced garden or land.
No small children and either no other dogs or a carefully introduced calm female.
Plenty of time, patience, and structure to allow him to adjust and feel safe.
Brody’s Transition Plan – The 3-3-3 Rule
First 3 days – Decompression: Quiet environment, limited to home and garden, no introductions to new people or pets, consistent feeding, and gentle presence.
First 3 weeks – Adjustment: Short calm walks, trust-building through hand-feeding and positive reinforcement, letting him approach on his terms.
First 3 months – Bonding: Gentle training, calm exposure to the world, and letting his full affectionate personality emerge.
Why Brody Needs a New Home
Due to personal circumstances, including the breakdown of my marriage and priority care for my grandson, I can no longer provide Brody with the space, environment, and attention he deserves. He has always lived in a large property with outdoor space, and he cannot thrive in a smaller home. This is not a choice I make lightly—Brody means the world to me—but I am committed to finding him the right, experienced, loving home where he can live the life he deserves.
Brody will make someone the luckiest person alive. If you can offer patience, calm leadership, and plenty of love, he will reward you with unwavering loyalty, affection, and joy.
