Description
This is Romeo, an African Spur Thigh, Sulcata tortoise, a much loved member of our family.
100% definitely male and very randy!
He's huge, nearly 4 stone in weight.
He's extremely friendly and has a very happy and funny character, he'll make you laugh with his antics.
He's really healthy, had his yearly health check up with the exoctic vet off the telly, Lance Jepson in April, who said he's got one of the best shells he's seen in captivity.
Now here's the sad bit, I've been diagnosed with an autoimmune chronic condition (Ankylosing Spondylitis) and can no longer give him the care and attention he needs because of my poor health.
I will only sell him to a suitable home, I won't be giving him away, if you can't afford the price, then you can't afford to look after a huge Sulcata tortoise.
African tortoises don't hibernate, so he'll need a large heated home, I'll explain lights and heaters to you, he eats grass, hay and a few select weeds. He'll need a large garden, or preferably an enclosed small field to graze in, year round. Even when there is snow on the ground he wants to go out, but for long though, he's used to having freedom to chose whether to stay in or go out. He puts himself to bed every night, and gets up every morning. You just need to unlock the door. They are creatures of habit.
I won't be letting him go to just anyone, I would like to check out where he'll be living ect. But in return you'll have my expertise in his care, and I'll always be available to give you advice. He is much loved, and when you meet him you'll see why. It's impossible not to fall in love with him. He's just such a great tortoise.
He's so friendly, never agressive, you often get tortoises that like to ram you, but Romeo isn't like that, he just wants a fuss, back scratches and attention. He'd even be happy to go for a walk with you, he loves people.
He's the sort of tortoise who'd love to be in a petting zoo, as he loves being around people. I know many tortoises don't, but Romeo is very sociable.
Tortoises this size aren't hard to look after as long as you've got the right home and conditions for them, which I'll explain to you.
Romeo currently lives with dogs, cats and rabbits, he's quite happy to snuggle up as well as tortoises can snuggle up, with a nice warm dog in front of the fire. He's not agressive towards other animals.
Romeo loves a bath, these days a paddling pool in the garden is all I can fit him in. He can get out of a commercial sink 2 foot X 18 inches, as he only just fits.
Romeo lives in Storrington, West Sussex. But for the right person and perfect home I'd be happy to ****** him personally. And as I said I'll teach you everything you need to know to look after him.
Only serious people need to apply. Thank you.
