Description
Looking for pastures new due to flock reduction. These girls come from a multi-purpose flock which we keep for milk, meat and wool / sheepskins.
We're short on grazing and have been too soft about keeping the flock to a manageable size, so the time has come to find new homes. They're all friendly, used to dogs, children, chickens etc. Have been living off just grass, no hard feed at all.
Good homes more important than price, so open to offers. Must have CPH number.
Tessa, Aurora and Hattie: 3 x 2023 Icelandic x Zwartble ewes (aka "Iced Zees"). Tessa and Hattie were both put to a Zwartble ram lamb and had twins at the start of April. They have done a cracking job with them and the lambs are now outstripping their mums. The addition of the Icelandic blood makes them smaller and therefore easier to handle than the pure Zwartbles, and Icelandics are also know for being hardy, prolific and milky so it's been an ideal cross for our set-up. Their lambs are amazingly vigorous. The Zwartble blood meanwhile makes them super friendly - some might say dog-like... Aurora wasn't put to the ram (she was keeping last year's ewe lamb company) so she's carrying a bit of timber compared to the other two, not having been sucked dry by ravenous lambs.
Pearl: 1 x 2025 Icelandic x Zwartble.
This is Tessa's daughter (the only girl from the crosses) and she's a very pretty little lady, with Zwartble-like markings and a dashing white stripe on her bum.
Flo: 1 x 2025 pure Zwartble. Mum is a pedigree, and Pops was a pure Zwartble but Flo and her bro aren't registered. Nonetheless, she's an absolute beaut. Slightly younger than Pearl (born at Easter) but already caught up on size.
