Ruby is 2-3 years old and medium in size (similar to a small labrador). She would like a home with experienced guardians, and could live with older children. She has been fine with cats in the past. Ruby will need a secure garden.
This beautiful lady, with fur as shiny as glass, is hoping to find a home where she can continue to build her confidence. She has been in a foster placement for a couple of weeks now, and has needed this time to relax into her home environment and build a bond with her foster carers.
It might take her a little while to learn to trust, but when she does she just wants to be with you and be part of your pack. She is incredibly sweet and gentle; just a little bit shy.
In the foster home she is interacting nicely with the resident dogs, showing that she’s friendly and submissive towards them. She is growing in confidence every day and gains a lot of this through the support of her resident doggy friends. Therefore, we think she’d do better with a companion.
Ruby is house-trained, crate trained, enjoys being brushed, (tolerates being bathed), and eats well without being possessive over her food. Generally speaking, she is a quiet girl but has been known to bark when excited.
She enjoys playing with toys and likes all the varieties of enrichment provided to her so far. When she starts feeling confident she absolutely loves to play and regularly has the zoomies.
It should be noted that Ruby is an escape artist! Therefore, she will need a very secure garden. Her ability to jump and squeeze through tiny gaps is amazing, so she really shouldn’t be underestimated.
When out and about on a lead she walks beautifully and doesn’t pull at all. She is an active dog and will need walks and games to keep her mind busy. However, she also calms down easily and is very happy to cuddle up on the sofa.
She can, on occasion, mouth and nip at your feet in the same way a collie puppy might when super excited. This has always been very gentle but needs to be discouraged. Ruby doesn’t have an ounce of aggression in her.
Her foster mum thinks she’s very clever and will be a pleasure to train. However, she will need to settle and find her confidence with her new human/s first.
She will take a little longer to acclimatise than some other dogs, but we think when she does you will have a beautiful, gentle, clever and loyal girl for life.
