We have made the difficult decision to find a new home for our lovely dog, Iris. We have new work and family commitments, and we are finding that we can no longer give Iris the time and attention that she needs. We’ve had Iris since she was a puppy, and treat her like a child, so she will only go to a family where we truly believe she can have a happier life than she already has with us. Here’s a little bit about her:
Health and Care:
Iris is 5 years old, she is up-to-date with her vaccinations, worm and flea treatment, and she is microchipped. She has had a recent vet check-up. She has no health issues. Sometimes certain foods can make her itch, so we keep her diet clean and don’t give her any unhealthy foods. She has grain free dog biscuits and we allow her to eat treats of healthy human foods like meat, fruit, veg etc. She is a true pedigree from reputable show breeders, kennel club registered, her parents were fully health checked. Iris does not need much grooming, she is comfortable with having a bath, having her coat brushed, and her nails trimmed.
Behaviour and Training:
Iris is house-trained, and well behaved, she is used to being kept in her own zone when we are out to prevent chewing or damage. So, we would recommend you keep her in her own zone and slowly build up trust in your home. She enjoys long walks or running with you, or playing fetch. As we haven’t been finding enough time for frequent walks, she is quite excited on the lead lately and does pull, but that will settle down if you walk her more often. We’ve never experimented with letting her off her lead.
Living Environment:
Iris is used to living in a house with our two other dogs, and a garden to play fetch or have a sunbathe. Iris is not used to being around small children.
Preferences and Personality:
Iris 's favourite activities are sitting watching TV with us, having long walks, playing in the garden, and playing fetch. She can be really calm, gentle, and loving, in the house, but she also has a really fun personality and it’s easy to get her zooming around being silly in the garden.
Ideal Family:
We think a family with either older teenagers or no children would be the best fit for Iris, as this is what she is used to. Although Iris has lived her whole life happily with our two other dogs happily, being a typical bull terrier she has had a couple of small disagreements in the past and needs supervision and sometimes firm and consistent management from us when interacting with other dogs - so they all stay friends, so for that reason we would say Iris would be best without another dog in the home. We would hope you know and understand this breed or have had experience with other bull terrier breeds, for you to truly enjoy her wonderful character.
Price:
We are asking £300 for Iris to ensure she goes to a committed and responsible home. This contribution will ensure we can send her with everything she needs to settle in comfortably—food bowls, toys, a bed, and some pet insurance to help with her transition.
