This handsome boy is Rufus & he is a Grand Griffon Vendeen. He is 5 years old (Dob 01/06/2020) and he is currently in foster care in Bolton, Manchester. Prior to this he was in a shelter in Spain after being released from the pound where he spent 3 years. Rufus has tested negative to Mediterranean diseases including Brucellosis.
Rufus is a big strong boy with a hunting instinct. He can be strong on the lead for a while until he has burnt off his energy. This is improving. He would need someone strong to walk him especially for the early part of the walk.
He has good manners out and about with other dogs, male or female. He is good off leash in an enclosed area and will follow what other dogs are doing. In the home, he can be grumbly with other dogs.
Rufus is very affectionate to humans and does favour people than other dogs. He is very independent so a home as an only dog would probably suit him better as long as he had lots of human attention. He could be with older children but due to his size he would not probably suit little children.
Rufus was cat tested in Spain but once he arrived in his foster home, he did chase the cats so he would suit a home without cats.
Please message if you are interested with information about your family, ages of everyone in the home, existing pets & work hours. All enquiries will be looked at. We only rehome to England, Wales & Scotland.
Please note: We are looking for a secure garden with fencing or walls to a minimum of 5ft. We also need the dogs to be kept on a lead, long lunge lead or for people to use enclosed fields for off lead exercise as these dogs are scent hounds & have hunting backgrounds.
We do not rehome with children under 8 years old.
