It’s with a very heavy heart that we are looking for a new home for Buttercup.
Buttercup, our gorgeous little double yellow-headed Amazon hatched on 12th May 2024 and was hand-reared from the egg by a well-known breeder up north. The breeder also had her DNA sexed and she is a female. She’s close-rung, and is an absolute joy to have around.
She’s still a baby but already has an amazing vocabulary for her age. She can say :
• “Hello Buttercup”
• “Peekabooo”
• “Good girl Buttercup”
• “Tickle tickle”
• “Hello Baby”
• “Are you okay?”
• “Good morning”
• “Bye bye” (when you wave your hand at times)
• what you doinggg
• Buttercuppppppp (very extended haha)
• she also laughs
She also wolf whistles, does kissing and clicking noises, and comes out with all sorts of sound effects and mumbling. She’s even bilingual – she can very clearly say Asalaamualikum and Kya baat hai (“what’s wrong”). She loves showing off which is most of the time haha.
She’s on a healthy diet of fresh veg chop, pellets, and the occasional nut. She’s flighted, loves her head scratches, and will happily eat from your hand. She’ll play with toys, but she’s not overly destructive like some Amazons.
Buttercup is a very social bird – she loves being around people and is used to family life. Like any Amazon, she can get loud at times, but most of the day she’s chatting or whistling away. She’s also had some recall flight training and has been around other birds without issue. She’s very easy going. She has very beautiful plumage.
We’ve had a big change in our lives recently with the arrival of our newborn, and it’s been hard to give Buttercup the time she deserves. She’s such a special little character and we only want her going to a loving, experienced home where she’ll get lots of attention.
We have plenty of photos and videos of her, and we’re happy to chat more about her to anyone genuinely interested.
We are open to sensible offers for the right home. She can be okay with everyone but loves females. She will come along with a travel cage and all her food
