Description

Hi, this is simba and he is 6 on the 5th of October 2025. Unfortunately I am looking to re home him. I want to be completely honest about him as I really want his new owner to be the right one for him. This might be a shot in the dark but it's worth a go as I believe it will help him and us massively in the long run. Me and my partner at the time got simba from a family when he was 16 weeks old, we already had a puppy Shar pei called Ebony. Both have been brought up exactly the same. However, out on walks I noticed simba becoming more and more reactive as he got older. I had a little boy in 2021 and to protect him I got a baby gate to keep them separate. I noticed when people come round he would become reactive with them too. Simba has never been a big barker at things unless he is anxious, Ebony however is very vocal and this induces anxiety in simba causing him to bark and get stressed. My daughter's friend come over once and he jumped up on her and as she pushed him away he bit her on her arm. This was in 2021, ever since then Iv not had people in my home and my anxiety of him hurting someone has been immense. I moved home a couple of years ago, and I split up with my partner a year ago. So I am now a single parent to 3 children and two dogs and I work a lot of hours. And as you can imagine I am really struggling. I have neighbours with small dogs and Ebony is very vocal with them however, I don't have this fear in me about her like I do simba. He's chewed at my fence and dug holes in my garden to try and get to them. My brother turned up unannounced one time and simba was frantic as I tried to pull him away, it took me a couple of hours to calm down. My sister also come over one time and he was initially calm but started to get worked up and started mouthing her. I had to put him in the back garden. Simba is extremely isolated, I try to walk him now and again but I find this so nerve wracking I can't physically take him and I believe he's feeding off my energy. I can not at all walk both together, as they feed off each other and this becomes too dangerous to do. So I have to walk them separate. As you can imagine this is pretty much impossible being on my own with three children. I noticed when Ebony was in season and out of his way he was a calmer dog. Simba needs one to one training with someone who is patient. And I have not got the funds or the time to be able to do this with him, along with my anxiety. I live completely on the edge every single day. I also need to mention he does have separation anxiety and needs to be sedated to visit the vets. This is my only option going forward or we all will suffer for another 6 years or so and I have nobody to help me with either of them. Other than all this, when simba is relaxed and calmed down he is so so loving, he's a like a normal loving family pet when he's jusg with us lot. He's good with my kids however I would not want to risk rehoming him to someone who has children. He'd do better with someone who does not have dogs already. I would be willing to rehome them together if that would means things are easier on him. But also willing to home him alone too. I just believe simba is extremely anxious dog and I have no way of helping him.
