Description
It’s with a heavy heart that I’m looking to rehome Frankie, a 10-year-old blue and gold macaw. I rescued her from a poor situation, but after some time together, I’ve come to realise that I’m not the right long-term home for her.
Frankie came to me in a very small cage and with little proper care. I’ve since upgraded her to a larger cage and improved her diet. She’s now eating a mix of high-quality fruit pellets (as recommended by avian specialists), sunflower seeds, peanuts, and fresh fruit and vegetables daily. She’s shown interest in her new foods and is slowly adjusting.
She does need her nails trimmed they are quite long. and I haven’t yet been able to handle this part of her care.
I was told she was silly tame with everyone, but it’s become clear she strongly prefers males. I believe a lot of her current behaviour is hormone-driven. As a single female, I’m struggling with the level of handling and attention she requires. She needs someone with macaw experience, preferably in a male-led home, who can meet her emotional and behavioural needs.
I took Frankie in to remove her from a bad environment, but I cannot give her the forever home she truly deserves. She’s a stunning, intelligent bird who needs space, stimulation, structure, and love, someone who understands macaws.
Please only contact me if you’re genuinely experienced, prepared, and committed. Frankie is not a beginner bird, and I won’t let her go to just anyone.
Rehoming fee applies to ensure she goes to a safe, responsible home.
Thank you
