Description
Auggie is an 11 month old male Standard Goldendoodle with a huge heart, a goofy, playful personality, and the most beautiful thick, fluffy coat. He adores people and children and is affectionate and playful once he feels comfortable, including with other dogs.
We rehomed Auggie when he was 4 months old and were not made aware of his behavioural difficulties. We love him to bits, but these challenges have been more than we expected, especially with having our other dog and his routine. After careful consideration, we have (very) reluctantly decided to rehome him. Living in a busy area, we feel we cannot provide him with the ideal environment to continue his training and development.
Auggie is looking for a confident, experienced owner who can continue supporting his training. He is reactive on the lead, barking and lunging toward other dogs, people, and cars. He is what is known as a "frustrater greeter." This is not aggression (Auggie’s big feelings and excitement often make him want to say hello or play), but it does require careful management.
We have had help from a professional dog behaviourist, including working on a long line to gradually increase his focus and self-control around distractions. He enjoys learning new tricks, playing games, and thrives when engaged with positive reinforcement. With continued structure, patience, and consistent training, Auggie can continue to make progress as he grows.
Auggie can get frustrated and has snapped in the past, but this behaviour has lessened significantly over time, thanks to his training, age, and neutering (chemical castration.)
Auggie’s Ideal Home:
• An owner experienced with leash reactivity who can continue his ongoing training
• A secure, spacious garden where he can safely run and play
• Someone willing to maintain his raw food diet
• Someone who will neuter Auggie after his chemical castration expires (5 months)
What You’ll Love About Auggie:
• His affectionate, goofy personality and big, warm cuddles
• His intelligence and love of learning, especially tricks and games
• The joy he brings with his playful energy and huge smile
Auggie can be rehomed with his bed, leads, toys, his rain coat and drying coat.
Auggie is a special dog who has already made amazing progress and now needs a patient, experienced owner to help him continue to thrive. He will fall in love with anyone who plays with him, gives him treats and plenty of cuddles. Auggie deserves a home that understands his needs and celebrates his personality.
