A little about me in my own words (please
remember that humans are not defined by
their pasts alone- neither are we)
Leesa tells me that she’ll need to get more
pictures and videos soon. She said it’s
hard with so little time but she’s trying for
me so they may be needed. She also said
that just as she noticed me so might
someone else. Her motto I hear is, “ ‘Love
at first sight’ adoptions
put yourself behind their fence line &
adopt at first sight today”. I suppose if I’m
having to strain through the bars to get to
you that you might do the same to get to
me. If there was wall paper in the
background would you notice me then? My
name is ‘Maeve’ - Leesas mum christened
me because before that no one had
considered me worthy of a title and if I did
have one no one was calling it out to me. It
was quite the opposite. They were rather
hoping I’d fade away when they left me on
the curb side. They left very quickly so I
couldn’t follow. I did try to catch up
because I am so loyal. Dogs are creatures
of habit after-all though it’s not going to be
such a huge loss if I find a real home as
they weren’t very nice to me. Clearly they
didn’t want me. My issue is that as i was
deserted & spotted wondering aimlessly
about lonely & confused I’ve ended up in a
shelter where there are no opportunities. I
heard Leesa talking about bad people that
may take me for a chain & that I could be
made homeless again. I’m in a place where
my future is fated & I remain vulnerable
(please ask the rescuer about this so you
can understand more). Whilst this is the
harsh reality for myself and my friends I am
particularly unsafe because I am pointer
size. The very thing that may attract you to
me is my least redeeming feature in a
place where dogs are not valued.
Though I’m remaining optimistic that my
animal loving & lifelong companion is out
there somewhere I’m also sad to be
waiting. Did you see how I nuzzled into
Leesas hand are looked into her eyes
almost pleading with her to help me.

feels that I would be suited to a variety of
households as I’m so adaptable & have so
much to offer. Perhaps you’re an older &
active person who doesn’t want to be
restricted to toy dogs just because you’re
not in you’re 30’s anymore. Neither am I. I
don’t need massive walks up mountains
though I’m only 4yrs old so I’d like to be
out and about daily. I’d run around & use
up energy in a bigger garden too & in
doggy day care for example. Younger
couples & single folk are also great as i
would sit between you on the sofa if I’m
allowed and snuggle up and spoon if
you’re lonely at night. I’m no trouble at all.
The thing is & not everyone seems to
realise this but bigger dogs like me- red
setter size-can walk small on the lead
whereas smaller dogs can walk big
sometimes. It’s more than anatomical.
‘Size’ can also be influenced by
temperament, weight & the way in which
we walk. I’m mellow & mosey about.
Always remember not to rule out the larger
dogs because measurement is more than a
ruler. Please choose me now based on
what you see as a dog that really needs
you rather than the dog that you want. If I
don’t get snapped up keep checking my
