Description
Clyde is a handsome, unique, chocolate merle Dachshund boy, **3 years old**, small in size but full of personality. With his striking dapple coat, bright eyes and charming presence, he truly stands out.
He has the classic Dachshund blend of affection, intelligence and a slightly quirky, comical character — and he can be incredibly sweet and cuddly once he feels secure.
However, Clyde has had a lot of change recently, being passed between homes several times, and this has left him unsure of people at times. He needs stability, predictability and an adopter who truly understands dogs with a sensitive, anxious side.
💛 Personality
Clyde’s core nature is loving and affectionate — in the right moments he is gentle, cuddly, funny and enjoys being close to his person. He bonds strongly and enjoys companionship.
He also has typical Dachshund traits:
• alert, lively and intelligent
• emotionally sensitive
• quick to notice changes
• may guard favourite people or resting spaces
• can get overwhelmed by fast movements or unpredictability
Because of his sensitive temperament and his history, Clyde can sometimes become unsure and has nipped when startled or pressured. This is not uncommon in anxious Dachshund mixes, but it must be acknowledged and managed correctly.
🏡✨ His Ideal Home
Clyde will thrive in a home that understands him and gives him what he never had: stability, structure and a calm environment.
He needs:
• a quiet, adult-only home (no children)
• an adopter with experience of sensitive or reactive small breeds
• someone patient who will give him time to decompress
• clear boundaries and predictable routines
• a home where visitors are limited or carefully managed
• no pressure to interact with strangers
🐾 With Other Dogs & Outside the Home
Typical of many Dachshund mixes, Clyde is often better in neutral spaces:
• he can be good on walks
• he is generally OK seeing other dogs
• outside he is more relaxed and less pressured
• he may enjoy wandering and sniffing
💊 Health & Basics
• 3 years old
• Small, smooth-coated Dachshund-type
• **He will be neutered before rehoming**
• Vaccinations up to date (to confirm)
• Microchipped
• Good appetite, clean indoors
• Needs harness walking to protect back
📘 Clyde’s Story
Clyde has been moved around too many times for a dog of his sensitive nature, and each change made him more unsure. His current elderly family have cared for him well, but Clyde’s unpredictability during moments of stress means they cannot safely continue with him.
This does not make Clyde a “bad dog” — he is simply an anxious, overloaded little boy who needs the right human: calm, confident, knowledgeable, and able to give him the emotional reset he deserves.
⚠️ Important Adoption Notes
To set Clyde up for success:
• adult-only home
• no visiting children
• controlled, low-pressure introductions to visitors
• adopter must understand dog body language
• adopter should follow a decompression plan
• no punishment — positive, calm handling only
Friends InDeed will provide full behavioural guidance, a Behaviour Management Sheet, a Decompression Plan, and lifelong rescue backup.
