at 30 - 32 degrees so from experience they will be females, but I cant garuntee this.
Hand reared for first few weeks and
Fed only
on a weed / flower only diet. all my babies tortoise will be sold complete with their form-fed1012-wd certificates and a personal compiled comprehensive caresheet.
My tortoises are extremely well looked after and like to meet any buyers to demonstrate this-please don't ask me to post a tortoise !!!!! (can’t believe how many people ask) I try every possibility to be with the adults when they lay their eggs, (from years of experience i know the signs when this is to happen within hours) i incubate all the eggs immediately and hand rear all the babies when hatched myself, they are handled as soon as possible! babies are the size of a thumbnail and weigh 8 - 10 grammes when they hatch.
i can assure you they have had an excellent start for there first years, consistent weed balanced diet, regular baths and will leave my enclosure in first class condition.
With the right care and set up, which really does not have to be too expensive, they should out live you!!!
My advice for enclosure - You will need an open top tortoise table or indoor rabbit cage (the plastic bottom type), ideal. The substrate which is 50/50 plays and and topsoil, feed a weed /wild flower diet, nutrobal calcium supplement, a heat/uv combined lamp (with lamp stand) and thats it! You do not need bark chip, heat mats, uv tubes, vivariums or uv tube lights and you definately do not need pretty coloured pellet food, and when its warm enough (may-sept) outside a secure run from other animals or birds, no uv lights are needed as the sun will give them what they need.
Please try to ignore the advice from comercial pet shops as they are just dealers trying to make as much money as they can as fast as they can whilst ensuring a life of misery for the tortoise.
All my babies are sold with my own comprehensive guide, to keeping your new baby tortoise safe! And I can be available post sale for any further advice if needed.
