Lassie’s story is one of heartbreak layered on heartbreak. First rescued from negligent “owners” who kept her skin and bones, she was taken in, restored with love, and found a family. But when war scattered lives across borders, her humans fled abroad—and left her behind. Literally placed outside the gates of their former home. As if she were nothing.
