About Woody
Sadly we are seeking a new home for little Woody. He arrived in the UK on the 9th November and has been adjusting to a companion lifestyle as best he can, but it’s become clear that he needs more focus and attention than his family can offer with two very young children.
Woody is a real sweetheart. He and his siblings were abandoned outside a church a couple of months ago and rescued shortly after. The four of them formed a little family unit and this is the first time they’ve ever been separated, so Woody’s had to adjust to a lot in a short space of time, and all things considered, he’s doing really well! He’s an enthusiastic, optimistic puppy, and he’s looking for a home where he can be someone’s whole world. He’s a curious boy, eager to explore nose first and gaining in confidence each and every day.
One thing that Woody is really struggling with at home is separation anxiety. Whilst the company of another dog can’t be expected to solve this challenge, it may well help to alleviate it in some way, as Woody is super social and loves the company of other dogs. He lights up in the park when he has a chance to play and interacts really nicely with everyone he meets. He has also spent all of his life living with his siblings, so is probably feeling quite out of his depth without another dog to help guide and reassure him.
Woody is also great with children. Right now he is living with two kids under the age of five, but it’s proving quite difficult to meet everyone’s need for attention, so we think a home with slightly older children would be better suited to him, ideally 8+. He’s good with children, but as he’s only a baby himself he needs a family that can give him the right amount of focus and training.
At home Woody is affectionate, cuddly and happiest when he can be as close to his people as possible. He would struggle to adjust to a routine which left him on his own in the house for long periods of time. He does of course need some training to improve his independence, but would love a home where he’s very much involved in the family rhythm and day to day routine.
Woody is a huge foodie and loves a treat. He is still learning manners around human mealtimes, although this is improving steadily by the day. He also already knows sit, has mastered house training, and is working on stay and leave. He is a very fast learner and is keen to please but is still very much a puppy, eager to understand the world and to be guided through it by someone patient, kind and consistent.
Woody is a beautiful boy with a loving heart and a desperation to belong. He deserves a home where he has plenty of love, company throughout the day and where he can continue to grow in confidence. For the right family he will be a devoted, cuddly and endlessly rewarding companion.
