Dachshund for Rehoming – Experienced Home Needed.
We are sadly looking to rehome our male dachshund due to his increasingly strong prey drive, which makes him unsuitable for homes with livestock or small animals. This is a very difficult decision, and we are committed to finding him a knowledgeable, responsible home where he can be managed safely and thrive.
About him:
Age: 3
Sex: male/neutered
Health: Up to date with vaccinations and flea/worm treatments
Temperament: Affectionate, loyal, and loves his people; enjoys walks and playtime
Training: Basic obedience known; recall is a work in progress; and he can be distracted.
Important considerations:
Strong prey drive – not suitable for homes with cats, small pets, poultry, or livestock
Must be walked on lead in open areas
Requires a secure garden and an owner experienced with hounds or high-prey-drive dogs
Best suited to an adult-only home or older, dog-savvy children
He is a loving companion in the right environment and thrives on routine, enrichment, and clear boundaries. We want him to go to a home that understands his instincts and can manage him safely and responsibly.

Not the best choice for first time owners because Dachshunds often have a mind of their own
Care must be taken with puppies because they must not be allowed to jump up or down from anywhere because it could damage their backs and joints
They are prone to putting on too much weight if not given enough daily exercise
